Our future is net carbon zero
Do you need to make your business carbon compliant? And/or do you have a passion for the environment? Either way, you’ve come to the right place! Tina and her team will guide you towards sustainable practice and carbon zero with three simple steps:
Step 1:
Learn what you need to know
We’d love to discuss the advantages of sustainable practice to your business. You are likely to have already started sustainable business practices (recycling plastics and cardboard for instance) and we can assist with the next steps in your journey towards more sustainability. We would like to be your first port of call for any questions you might have around sustainable business practice and what you might want to consider. Most business owners simply don’t know where to start or what the next step could be. We can help with that. Check out our blog article to see a list of benefits, easy quick wins and why a livable planet needs urgent climate action. And best of all: our educational Starter Assessment is absolutely free (and free of any obligations). Once we have identified your business needs, Eco Growth will put you in touch with any other service provider or resource that can help you. Call us today to book your free Sustainability Starter Assessment – ideally over an invigorating cuppa – to go with the inspirational discussions!

Step 2a:
Sustainability Planning – start today
After the initial assessment of your situation, you might wish to map out your journey to more sustainability with a strategy that ideally leads to a verifiable certification in sustainability. A Sustainability Plan or Strategy will guide your business in using less resources (energy, fuel, water, waste creation) and ALWAYS comes with significant cost savings which makes it wonderfully viable and an excellent business investment. A Sustainability Plan will make sure that you reach the legally required zero carbon by 2050. The longer you’ll wait to start your journey to zero carbon the more difficult (and expensive) it will be. If you wish, we can create a Sustainability Management System following international standards like ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems or ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems. There are advantages with following these international standards that we are happy to discuss with you. Many smart businesses are taking full advantage of the positive image and increased value associated with sustainability in the mind of consumers, employees and stakeholders.
Step 2b:
Greenhouse Gas Inventory (GHGI)
If you are not the planning type, you can actually just start with commissioning or preparing a Greenhouse Gas Inventory (GHGI) for your business. This is an annual account of the energy consumed and converted into CO2-equivalent emission units to count your business’ carbon emissions. The Government is expected to release the first emission’s reduction plan end of May 2022 which will outline our carbon accounting obligations.
Eco Growth specializes in preparing the first GHGI for small commercial businesses and in coaching businesses to continue their carbon accounting in-house, if they wish. There are other solutions if you don’t wish to do your own carbon accounting. In any case, carbon accounting done in-house needs to be verified externally. (Step 3).
Step 3:
Greenhouse Gas Inventory Verification
A Greenhouse Gas Inventory (GHGI) has to be externally verified by an accredited organisation. If a GHGI has been prepared by an external organisation (like Eco Growth for instance) then the external provider generally also does the verification for your business.
However, if you are a small commercial company it is generally relatively easy to continue with the carbon-accounting once systems have been established. Eco Growth can set it up for you and coach you in how to continue your carbon accounting and inventory in-house.
Final Step:
Future-fit with Eco Growth!
Future-fit Business is an inspiring concept that you would be proud to be part of. The vision of Future-fit Business is a future in which no company undermines the wellbeing of people or the planet, where business is considered universally as a force for good. Where the more profitable companies clearly and credibly articulate how each dollar they earn creates value for society as a whole. In this future, today’s take-make-waste approach has been supplanted by a borrow-use-return approach. “Growth” is synonymous not with higher GDP, but with increasing trust, greater equity, healthier lives, and richer ecosystems – in a word: Eco Growth!
Meet Tina
I have been a consultant for 20 years assisting NZ businesses to grow (meaning: doing better or fulfilling their aspirations) and creating a better tomorrow while doing so. I totally agree with inspirational Economist Tim Jackson that our addiction to economic growth is unsustainable. And I have joined the small group of brave changemakers who are not afraid to say so. Living more sustainably is a challenge for all of us. I love riding my motorbike and I suspect that riding an e-bike will not quite be the same. We all make different sacrifices and do what we can. Early in 2021 I became a Carbon & Energy Professional and since then I have started my own journey to more sustainability. I’m currently studying towards a Master in Environmental Management and I love it! I also love inspiring and assisting business owners to start their journey to zero carbon. There are three good reasons for starting your journey today: It is easier than you think, it will make you feel better – and it will save cost!
